Moms like to be treated special. The second Sunday in May each year is a day set aside especially for her. This year, Mother’s Day falls on May 14, 2017. Many people will send cards and gifts, but what she might really want is time for the family to come together and do things as a family.
Whether you follow a tradition of taking her out for Mother’s Day brunch or dinner, there are many restaurants in town that will help in treating her like a queen. Mix in an activity that the family can do for the special day.
One place she’ll love is Olde Town Bistro and Grill with its southern cuisine and Mother’s Day brunch. Afterward, take a stroll along the streets to window shop, and then sit and chat for a bit in the Lewis Vaughn Botanical Garden. End your visit to Olde Town and cool off with ice cream at Creamberry’s.
Another great brunch spot is Nana’s Chicken ‘N Waffles. They have southern home cooking and a friendly atmosphere. After brunch, catch a movie at the local cinema.
If you’d prefer, treat Mom to breakfast in bed so she can have a lazy morning to relax. Coax her into getting out to enjoy the beautiful day with a visit to the Monastery of the Holy Spirit. The Monastery offers beautiful, peaceful grounds with quiet walks through trees and along the lake.
Perhaps Mom would prefer dinner out? Seven Gables is an upscale, continental restaurant that would be perfect to treat Mom for this special occasion.
Mom loves being with family. She could be with her immediate children or you might get a few generations of mothers together; the more the merrier!
Give her some time to relax from the busy life and all its demands. One of the best ways to commemorate Mom is to give her the day off! Make it as easy for her as you can and remember to tell her how much you love and appreciate her.
